Utsa Summer 2023 Calendar

Utsa Summer 2023 Calendar – The arts teach children and teens vital skills that foster intellectual and creative development with skills that prepare them for the 21st century. Perhaps now more than ever – as San Antonio becomes more diverse, the world more connected, and the workplace increasingly driven by technology and creativity – arts education is critical to ensuring student success at school, at work and in life. A leader in arts education for five decades, Community Art Programs offers multiple ways to access the visual arts for young artists in San Antonio.

Summer Art Studios is San Antonio’s most comprehensive and largest summer art experience for students, offering seven weeks of classes for students ages 5-18. Our artist-teachers focus on fundamentals such as drawing and painting, as well as experimental design and classes that explore world cultures. Southwest is unique in offering media such as wheel throwing, metal forging, photography and sculpture. Summer Art Studios allow young artists to work with like-minded people, culminating in a public celebration of their work each week.

The Summer Art Studies Student Release Form must be completed upon registration. Those registering online will be asked to complete a form after completing student registration. And those who register by phone will receive an email link to complete the form. NOTE: All forms must be completed prior to the start of the first class.

Summer Art Studios courses are divided into the following age groups: Kids Art Camp: 5–6, 7–9, 10–13 and 12–14 as well as Teens Studio Intensive: 14–18 years old. The curriculum for each grade is developed to match the skill level of students in that particular age range. As such, class selection should be based on each student’s age rather than artistic ability. Register your child according to their age (no exceptions to this policy are allowed).
