Uncc Academic Calendar 2023 – Along with an academic advisor, should be used as a guide in curriculum planning and completion of graduation requirements.

Apply to students who began their studies at UNC Charlotte during the 2016-2017 academic year and will remain enrolled at the institution continuously until graduation. If the requirements change, students can choose to meet the new requirements or remain under the requirements that were in effect at the time of the change. Students who choose to implement the new requirements must be notified through their academic departments at least one semester prior to graduation. Students who change their major/minor are bound by the requirements of the new major/minor in the semester in which they officially begin their studies in the new curriculum. Students who are unsure of which to use should consult their advisor. See additional policies and disclaimers.

Although UNC Charlotte’s course offerings and academic requirements are continually reviewed and revised, the bachelor’s degree is renewed only once a year. This annual review process helps ensure users

Unc Charlotte Outlined

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Two people were killed Tuesday afternoon after an active shooter was reported on the UNC Charlotte campus. UNCC Police responded to an active shooter call on South Library Lane of the Kennedy Building and the campus was placed on lockdown.

Police were unarmed and quickly arrested 22-year-old Tristan Andrew Terrell on campus. He is charged with two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill and possession of a weapon for educational purposes.

The officers applauded the two officers, Sgt. Gundaker and Lt. Smyer for their bravery in first responding and assisting in capturing the shooter.

CMPD is the lead investigative agency in the investigation. The FBI is assisting the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department and other law enforcement partners.

As for a motive for the shooting, CMPD Police Chief Kerr Putney said they don’t yet know why and it doesn’t appear to be targeting a specific individual.

Putney also added that “very little ammunition” was present and the suspect purchased the gun legally.

Authorities say two students, Alice Parlor, 19, of Midland, and Riley Howell, 21, of Waynesville, were killed. Injured were Drew Pescaro, 19, and Sean DeHart, 20, of Apex, Rami Al Ramadhan, 20, of Saudi Arabia, and Emily Haupt, 23, of Charlotte.

Unc Charlotte Spring Semester To Start Classes Virtually

CMPD Police Chief Kerr Putney said Wednesday that the victim of the fatal shooting, Riley Howell, tried to fend off the shooter and is a hero.

Chancellor DuBois said those who want to graduate this month will still graduate. Counselors are available on and off campus throughout the day on Wednesdays, and the Student Union and Library are open to students and staff. The school will return to normal operations at midnight and staff will return to work on Thursday. UNCC’s last day of classes was Tuesday, and the exam schedule was scheduled to begin on May 2. All final exams have now been postponed until Sunday.

Gov. Roy Cooper traveled to UNCC Tuesday night and said he knows the people in the community and knows they are here for each other. Rep. Alma Adams was on campus Wednesday to stand with them and the city.

Mayor Vi Lyles said many have reached out to the community to offer support, including President Donald Trump.

“All of us, everyone in this community, are in shock and grief. We know that tragedies like this can tear a community apart or bring us together. It’s our choice how we move forward,” Viles said. “We’re Charlotte … we’re working hard to build this community.”

A candlelight vigil is scheduled for Wednesday evening at 6:00 PM in the Bernhardt Student Activities Center at UNCC Halton Arena. It will be streamed live at livestream.uncc.edu and on the UNC Charlotte Facebook page.

In the 24 hours and 38 minutes after a gunman killed two UNC Charlotte students and wounded four others, he wept as he stood behind a microphone at the center stage of Dale F. Halton Arena.

“As a parent myself…” he sniffed and braced himself, placing a hand on either side of Lekhorn. “Lisa and I mourn this senseless loss of a young life and share the pain of their parents, their families and you, their friends.”

DuBois looked around the auditorium, a room filled with more people than seats, rows of students, faculty, and Green alumni. “We can’t bring them back,” he said. “But with your help, we will find a way to commemorate their presence as 49ers.”

The day before — April 30, the last day of school — he was on a flight to Indianapolis for a meeting of the NCAA Division I Board of Directors. The quarterly gathering brings university leaders and board members from across the country, including DuBois, the University of North Carolina’s longest-serving chancellor and administrator, who is responsible for a student body of 29,710 — the second largest total in North Carolina. When he accessed Wi-Fi on board American Airlines, he looked at the UNCC website and saw the message: “Run. Hide. Fight.” This is the signal campus security sends via text and email in the event of an active shooter.

DuBois gathered as little information as possible via email with his senior team and his wife, Lisa Louise DuBois. He took another flight back to Charlotte, where police escorted him to a press conference at the closed O’Charley parking lot on University City Boulevard.

Over the next 24 hours and the days that followed, DuBois moved between vigil and press briefings. He attended funerals and visited injured students in hospital. At the commencement ceremony on May 10, he presented the degrees in memory of the families of the two fallen students, Alice “Reed” Parlor and Riley Howell.

Two months later, DuBois announced his resignation at the end of the next school year. During his 15-year tenure as chancellor, DuBois, 69, was instrumental in efforts to bridge the cultural and physical divide between UNC Charlotte, 10 miles northeast of Trade and Tryon, and its host city: the campus expansion of the LYNX light rail. A 43 percent increase in enrollment and the creation of a football program in 2013.

But it was Dubois’ reaction to what he called “the saddest day in the history of UNC Charlotte” that solidified his impact on both. “Someone asked me the other day, ‘How do you divide yourself into leadership?’ And the answer is, ‘You don’t,'” he told me in his Cato Hall office on campus. “You have to think as clearly as possible. But being emotional about a student’s violent death is a reasonable response. It comes naturally. It comes to everyone.”
