Uccs Spring 2023 Calendar – Colorado Springs, Colo. () – UCCS students have been remote for the past five weeks. Starting Monday, they will have the option of having in-person, remote or hybrid flex, depending on the class and what the teacher offers.
In the spring, the students began studying in person, but at the end of the semester, they were studying remotely. This fall, more than 930 students will live on campus, but most students will commute.

Everyone entering the UCCS campus is required to wear a mask while in the building and to introduce it when off campus to help prevent the spread of COVID-19 on campus. Stephanie Heinberg, assistant vice chancellor for health and wellness at UCCS, is excited to see students back on campus and expects not to see as many cases of the virus as she saw in the fall.
Colorado Springs’ Economy Fared Better Than Most Cities During Pandemic
“We are very lucky that there is not a single case that spreads in the classroom, I believe strictly because the students wear masks and they maintain social distancing. There are also small classes, and because they follow all the rules,” Hainberg said.
UCCS has provided training to everyone on site to explain all the requirements of the COVID-19 regulations. The university will also ask residents to undergo a daily health screening, asking them a series of screening questions before arriving on campus.
Students who visited the residence halls were tested before being allowed inside and all came back negative. UCCS is also conducting a “follow-up experiment” on residential students and some students, which they hope to introduce to faculty and staff soon.

Because masks are required on campus, Heinberg knows that wearing masks on campus will help keep faculty and students safe.
“People who follow the rules make a big difference for us. Not every campus is so fortunate, but we are blessed with the determination of the campus, faculty, staff and students,” Heinberg said.
If someone comes to the facility and is not wearing a mask, that person will be asked to wear a mask. If they refuse, the University may ask that person to leave the premises, and further action may be taken by the University if necessary.
