Yes! Bring your family for a weekend full of activities for everyone. Alumni will offer a family session with a barbecue, inflatables, lawn games, crafts, photo opportunities and more. You can book a planetarium tour, dine in Campus Town and stroll through Alumni Grove and share the TSC/TCNJ experience with your guests.

Alumni BBQ: This signature event on the Green Hall lawn will feature a variety of buffet offerings beginning at 3 p.m. Beer and wine will be available to guests 21 and over (ID required). Your first drink is included in the $30 ticket price, after which the bar is cash only. Please note that alcoholic beverages are not allowed outside the hotel. Registration is mandatory.

Lions Pride Brunch: Enjoy a full brunch spread as the Class of 1973 and the Golden Lions Society celebrate from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Brower Student Center, 100 West. $25 per ticket. Registration is mandatory.

Alumni BBQ is located on the Green Hall lawn across from the Brower Student Center and in front of Green Hall. Other events will be held at various locations around campus; Check the schedule and map at check-in.

Alumni Weekend will take place rain or shine, as most activities are indoors. In case of inclement weather, the Alumni BBQ will move to the atrium of the Brouwer Student Center.

The TCNJ Alumni Association’s annual celebration recognizing the 2023 Alumni Leadership Award recipients included remarks from TCNJ President Kathryn A. Foster and Alumni Association President Ian Ruderman ’89, a light reception and a visit to the Alumni Grove. Honorees: Jenny Secaniks ’16, MA ’18 (Young Student Award); Betty Greene Blackwell ’72 (Humanitarian Award); Deborah Simpson ’84, MA ’88 (Merit Award); and Lamont O. Repollet ’94 (Alumni Citation Award). CFE’s Speaker Series features distinguished educators sharing their unique career paths, knowledge of their specialties, and insights and advice on teaching. Events are held monthly and highlight a variety of topics including teacher activism, social and emotional learning, education law and leadership. Students are also encouraged to submit their questions for the speaker(s). All speaker series events are virtual and are recorded and available here on our website. Kimberly Dickstein Hughes, Ed.M. She taught English at Haddonfield Memorial High School and was named the 2019-20 Camden County Teacher of the Year and the 2020 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year. Hughes taught in the Haddonfield School District for 12 years and completed a teaching internship there. She is also an adjunct professor at Rowan University College of Education. As a practitioner, Hughes has focused her professional studies on critical global literacy, culturally responsive pedagogy, and Shakespeare studies.

Men’s Wrestling Ready For Full 2021 22 Campaign As Coach Turner Releases Schedule

Hughes believes New Jersey can only achieve educational equity through radical compassion and collective action. As the 2020 New Jersey State Teacher of the Year, she visited New Jersey public schools and state agencies to empower teachers and connect with partners invested in building communities and partnerships. Hughes prioritizes social justice, anti-bias education, and equity not only in her classroom, but on the national stage.

Christine Girtain is a high school science teacher and director of authentic science investigations at Toms River High School. He holds a bachelor’s degree in biology with an emphasis in education from the College of New Jersey and a master’s degree in earth science teaching and curriculum from Kean University. The Authentic Science Research program, which he directs, is a three-year program that allows students to work on topics and projects that interest them, from bioengineering E. coli to studying bees.

Girtain has worked with the US Army and Navy to establish a K–12 STEM pipeline aimed at ensuring the sustainability of the STEM workforce. She and her students dr. With Waxman, Pirchi built the global Wolbachia STEM project, which is testing the spread of Wolbachia bacteria in insects, which has been found to be a sustainable way to stop the spread of dengue and Zika viruses. In addition, Girtain advocates and represents the need to increase agricultural literacy. In October 2022, he was named the 2022-23 NJ State Teacher of the Year.

Women’s Swimming And Diving Opens Up Tcnj Invitational

Tom Young is a 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Whitesfield Elementary School in Waitsfield, Vermont, now in his 26th year of teaching. In addition to teaching in the classroom, Young was also an adjunct professor at Champlain College. He is also the winner of the NEA Foundation Teaching Excellence Award and coordinates the mentoring program for the foundation. These guidelines are available to teachers across the country as they begin their one-year Global Learning Fellowship. Young is also the head varsity girls basketball coach at Harwood Union High School in Duxbury, VT. He was named VT State Division 2 Coach of the Year in 2019 and is a two-time Capital League Coach of the Year.

Young has been married to his wife Angela for 24 years. His oldest daughter, Julianne, is currently a student at the Rochester Institute of Technology, where she is a cross country and cross country runner. His youngest daughter, Abby, is a senior in high school and will be attending college to become a teacher.

Sima Kumar is a middle and high school teacher from New Jersey. She is a board member of Make Us Visible-NJ, the grassroots coalition responsible for garnering support and passage of the AAPI Curriculum Act signed into law by Governor Murphy on January 18th. Beginning in the 2022-2023 school year, this law requires K-12 schools to include Asian American and Pacific Islander history and contributions in their curriculum.

Sima grew up in Ohio, where she completed her K-12 education in public and private schools. He has a B.A. degree in biochemistry and an M.F.A. at Smith College. in Creative Writing from Vermont College of Fine Arts. He is currently pursuing an Ed.D. at Rutgers University.
