The semester began Sunday with Freshman Convocation, the annual tradition of welcoming new students to campus. KSU President Kathy Schwaig joined head football coach Brian Bohannon along with KSU cheerleaders and the University’s mascot, Scrappy the Owl. Afterwards, the students were invited to a festival event, with food, music and games.
On Monday, in recognition of the first day of school, students were invited to participate in First Day of School Cupcakes, an annual tradition on campus and in Marietta. President Schwaig hosted the event, and students were treated to sweets and the opportunity to create their own KSU mascot in the Stuff-An-Owl tradition.
“There is a lot of energy and anticipation on our campus from faculty, students and staff as the fall semester begins,” Schwaig said. “These events and activities are a great way to help students socialize and make important connections that will help them succeed this year.”
